Buy cheap shares and sell overvalued ones!
Buy cheap, sell dear (high). This is a maxim for success on the stock market. Every investor knows this rule.
However, at any time and for almost every stock, there are different opinions on whether and at what price it should rather be bought or sold. How does such a spectrum of opinions come about? There are two main reasons:
- One reason is the human psyche. Fear and greed are important drivers of stock market trading, especially for private investors. That is why many of them fall into the same traps again and again. There are whole books on the subject.
- Another reason is the many ratios that tell you whether a share is valued high or low. Depending on which ratios one chooses and which one pays the most attention to, the verdict on a share price can be “expensive” or “cheap”.
The art is, therefore, on the one hand, to eliminate emotions and, on the other hand, to separate the misleading key figures from the really decisive ones – and above all: to evaluate these key figures correctly.
